Rhipsalis – Policarpa

Rhipsalis Policarpa

Rhipsalis Policarpa is a fascinating and distinctive epiphytic cactus, admired for its slender, cylindrical green stems and unusual covering of fine, hair-like bristles. The young stems grow upright and branch freely before gradually becoming pendulous, creating an attractive cascading habit as the plant matures.

The delicate bristles give this Rhipsalis a wonderfully textured appearance and make it especially interesting to collectors. As the stems develop, they form a beautifully branched specimen that looks particularly attractive in a hanging basket or raised container.

During its flowering season, Rhipsalis Policarpa produces beautiful fragrant white flowers, which can appear singly or in pairs at the ends of the stems. These are followed by striking wine-red, berry-like fruits that are also covered with fine bristles, adding an exceptional splash of colour and interest to the plant.

Rhipsalis Policarpa prefers bright, filtered light or partial shade and a loose, well-drained growing medium. As a tropical epiphytic cactus, it appreciates humidity and regular moderate moisture while still requiring good drainage.

A truly special addition to any Rhipsalis collection, Rhipsalis Policarpa combines graceful trailing growth, unusual bristly stems, fragrant white flowers and beautiful red fruits, making it a wonderful choice for collectors and plant lovers alike.
