Rhipsalis – Oblonga

Rhipsalis Oblonga

Rhipsalis Oblonga is a beautiful and unusual epiphytic cactus, admired for its elegant, flattened oblong stems and graceful trailing growth. The slender green segments have attractive wavy to crenated margins, giving this Rhipsalis a distinctive and delicate appearance.

As the plant matures, the stems become increasingly pendulous and can develop into a beautifully full, cascading specimen. This makes Rhipsalis Oblonga an excellent choice for hanging baskets or raised containers, where its flowing growth can be fully appreciated.

During its flowering season, small yellowish to greenish-yellow flowers appear along the sides of the stems. These delicate blooms provide a lovely contrast against the green foliage and can be followed by attractive translucent fruits that mature to white or pale pink.

Rhipsalis Oblonga prefers bright, filtered light or partial shade and a well-drained growing medium. As a rainforest epiphyte, it appreciates humidity and regular moisture during active growth, while good drainage is important to keep the roots healthy.

A wonderful addition to any Rhipsalis collection, Rhipsalis Oblonga combines unusual flattened stems, graceful cascading growth and delicate flowers, making it a charming choice for collectors and plant lovers alike.
