Rhipsalis – Houlletiana

Rhipsalis Houlletiana

Rhipsalis Houlletiana is a beautiful and unusual epiphytic cactus, admired for its long, graceful trailing stems and distinctive flattened green segments. The stems have attractive deeply serrated edges, giving this plant a unique, almost leafy appearance and plenty of character.

As the plant matures, the stems become beautifully pendulous, making Rhipsalis Houlletiana an excellent choice for hanging baskets or raised containers where its cascading growth can be fully appreciated. Its lush, branching habit creates a wonderful flowing display.

One of its most attractive features is its generous flowering. Numerous delicate, bell-shaped flowers appear along the edges of the flattened stems, ranging from creamy white to pale yellow. The flowers can be followed by attractive red fruits, adding another splash of colour to this special plant.

Rhipsalis Houlletiana enjoys bright, filtered light or partial shade and a well-drained growing medium. As a rainforest epiphyte, it appreciates regular moisture and humidity while still requiring good drainage. It is also known as the Snowdrop Cactus, a lovely name inspired by its abundance of pale, pendulous flowers.

A wonderful addition to any Rhipsalis collection, Rhipsalis Houlletiana combines unusual foliage, graceful trailing growth and masses of delicate flowers, making it a truly charming plant for your home or garden.
