Rhipsalis – Crusiforme

Rhipsalis Crusiforme

Rhipsalis Crusiforme is a fascinating and unusual epiphytic cactus, admired for its distinctive succulent stems and beautifully branching, trailing growth. Its stems can be flat, winged or distinctly angled, with scalloped edges and tiny tufts of soft white hairs that give this Rhipsalis its unique character.

As the plant matures, the long stems create a graceful cascading display, making it an excellent choice for hanging baskets or raised containers. With good light, the stems can develop attractive purple to magenta tones, adding even more colour and interest to the plant.

Delicate flowers may appear along the stems in shades ranging from white and cream to pink, followed by attractive translucent purple-red berries. The combination of unusual stems, beautiful flowers and colourful fruit makes this a particularly interesting plant for any Rhipsalis collection.

Rhipsalis Crusiforme prefers bright, filtered light or dappled shade and a well-drained growing medium. As a forest-dwelling epiphytic cactus, it appreciates more moisture than desert-type cacti, while still benefiting from good drainage and allowing the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings.

A truly distinctive addition to any collection, Rhipsalis Crusiforme brings beautiful texture, graceful movement and a touch of tropical charm to your home or garden.
